titanic-dinner.jpgThe Queen Mary and Steamship Historical Society of America are continuing their yearly tribute to the RMS Titanic with the 2008 Titanic Remembrance Dinner named “In Those Little Boats” Saturday, April 12. The event will spotlight the experience of the passengers who were in the lifeboats on the fateful night of April 14, 1912.
It has been over 100 years since White Star and Harland & Wolff first laid down plans for the Olympic class liners. Among them, the RMS Titanic, which at that time was the largest and most luxurious ship ever constructed.
Many decisions were made in subsequent planning and designing that ultimately led to disaster. Her anticipated arrival and infamous maiden voyage have made the Titanic the most famous ship in history.
The event will be aboard the Queen Mary in the Verandah Grill. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with light refreshments and a cash bar. The dinner will commence at 7 p.m.
The night will include a variety of “ice breaker” games and a presentation by keynote speaker Roy Megnot. He will discuss, among many things, the life-saving equipment of the 20th century.
Tickets for the Titanic Remembrance Dinner are $96 per person and period or formal dress is encouraged.
