A&A Ready Mix celebrated the opening of its new Signal Hill Batch Plant with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday.
Formerly on Spring Street, A&A partnered with the Signal Hill Redevelopment Agency and the city of Signal Hill to find a suitable location for the concrete plant’s operations. Then, after five months of construction, A&A quickly launched its state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly plant on Patterson Street.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said A&A Ready Mix owner Randy Callier.
Started in 1949 by his father Andre, A&A has grown from a building supply plant in Gardena to a large concrete company with 22 locations.
“It’s the largest, family owned concrete company west of the Rocky Mountains,” said Chief Operating Officer Dennis Lee.
The relocation of the batch plant represents the first General Industrial development in Signal Hill’s new General Industrial Specific Plan. The plant also contains equipment to reduce noise, filter water runoff and reduce dust and airborne emissions in the site area.
