Police seeking information regarding shooting death of 20-year-old man

A 20-year-old man is dead after being shot in the 3400 block of Andy Street. According to police, on Saturday, Feb. 22, at approximately 5:40pm, Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) officers responded to a “shots fired” call in the area. When they arrived, officers discovered on the sidewalk a gunshot-wound victim who had been struck in the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department paramedics responded and determined him deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 20-year-old Christopher Franklin of Long Beach.
A motive for the shooting is unknown, and the incident is being investigated as possibly gang-related. No suspect descriptions are available, and detectives are hoping someone with information will come forward, according to the LBPD.
