Mr. Willie and Mrs. Carrie Bryant, owners of Creative Arts Preschool and Huntington Academy K-6 in Long Beach, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 5, 2008 at the home of their oldest daughter, Vanessa Kelly, in Carson.
The guests, which included family and friends, enjoyed brunch by the pool and later viewed a touching video of a special moment together.
Mr. and Mrs. Bryant are the parents of five daughters and one son, who passed in 1988 at the age of 24, grandparents of 12 and great-grandparents of 11. They met at Booker T. Washington High School in Plainview, Texas. They began as friends and the rest was history.
Why him? Why her? Well the answer was simple. “I loved his kindness and patience,” stated Mrs. Bryant. “She was a true lady,” stated Mr. Bryant.
Not being anywhere close to marriage age myself, I wondered how do you keep a good healthy relationship within a marriage and I have found my answer. According to the Bryants, the secret is to remain patient, be willing to compromise, allow each other to be themselves, try to understand each other’s point of view and take care of your body.
There is one key addition, according to Mr. Bryant, “remember you cannot make it without God.” 2008 has proven to be a good year for the Bryants.
