Family Wellness Program offers free nutrition classes

The Family Wellness Program at Community Hospital of Long Beach (CHLB) will begin its Session 7 nutrition program classes on Monday, Jan. 19 and run through June 12. Classes are free and open to the community. Nutrition/dietitian students from California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) will teach classes on the Principles of Anatomy and Physiology, MyPyramid, Diabetes Exchanges, Popular Diets, Tips for Eating Out and Heart Health/Diet and Cholesterol. Family/Children nutrition classes for children ages 6 to 12 are also returning this session. Children will attend a separate class with nutrition information geared toward their age level.
Prior to beginning the CHLB nutrition program, participants must schedule a nutrition assessment or intake appointment with a nutrition counselor. Assessments appointments will be offered Friday, Jan. 2 and Saturday, Jan. 3; Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 8, 9 and 10; and Thursday through Saturday, Jan. 15, 16 and 17.
The nutrition counseling sessions and classes will be held on the CHLB campus, 1720 Termino Avenue. For more information or to make an assessment appointment, call (562) 494-0764 or visit www.chlb.org.
