Dignity Health—St. Mary Medical Center on Oct. 6 honored one of its long-time volunteers, Tim Smith, with its Humankindness Award for his dedicated service to the hospital’s CARE Center Food Pantry. For the past 15 years, Smith, a career education teacher for the Los Angeles County Office of Education, has taught hundreds of teenagers and young adults about the significance of helping others and the importance of being contributing members of the community by donating time to the organization, according to Dignity Health officials. Above, pictured from left are: Ron Yolo, associate chief nursing executive and interim director of CARE Center; Sister Celeste Trahan, CCVI, vice president of Mission Integration; Smith; and Stephanie Glass, CARE Center case manager. Below, Smith is pictured volunteering at the pantry with some of his students.
