With District 8 Councilwoman Tonia Reyes Uranga’s and District 6 Councilman Dee Andrews’s hands leveraging giant, red-handled scissors, the Wrigley Community Garden at 1950/1960 Henderson Avenue got growing last Saturday with a well-attended plant and bake sale. Blooming on the site of two former drug houses, the 39-plot garden is expected to transform the neighborhood by helping people grow their own food. The two-year project is supported by the 6th District Council Office, Wrigley is Going Green, the Long Beach Housing Development Company, the Long Beach Office of Sustainability, the Wrigley Association, and many others.
