The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) announced Friday that the case of Carlo Navarro, the man accused of striking and killing a family of three on Halloween night while driving under the influence, was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney for filing consideration.

Navarro was re-booked on Nov. 7 for two counts of manslaughter in connection to the traffic fatality while he was in custody for an unrelated burglary warrant, police said.

Navarro is currently being held at the Los Angeles County Jail, and a no-bail hold was granted until his scheduled arraignment on Nov. 12, police said.

As previously reported in the Signal Tribune, the three family members that was killed in the crash was identified as Joseph Awaida, 30, Raihan Dakhil, 32 and Omar Awaida, 3.

In the wake of the crash, multiple vigils were held to honor the memory of the Awaida family, as they were beloved by many Long Beach residents for their contributions to the community.
