just-outside.jpgJoin the Friends of the Signal Hill Library Monday, July 30, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 pm for an evening of showbiz gossip and behind-the-scenes tales of your favorite celebrities as told by Luke Yankee, son of the famous Broadway and Hollywood actress, Eileen Heckart.
A masterful storyteller, Yankee will pull the curtains aside to reveal some up-close and personal stories, complete with pictures and videos, of legends such as Lucille Ball, Carol Channing, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, Ellen Degeneres, Marlene Dietrich, Sophia Loren, Ethel Merman, Marilyn Monroe, Mary Tyler Moore, Mary Louise Parker, Mary Pickford, Debbie Reynolds, Martha Stewart, Bob Fosse, George Cukor, Clark Gable, Arthur Miller, Paul Newman, Ronald Reagan, and many more.
Based on Yankee’s highly successful one-man show, Diva Dish!, “Just Outside The Spotlight: Growing Up With Eileen Heckart” delves into the golden days of Broadway and Hollywood. This endearing memoir contains more than 65 photographs (many of which have never been seen before) and funny, heartfelt stories of celebrities.
Author Talk takes place at the Signal Hill Community Center located at1780 East Hill Street, behind the library. Admission is free but donations to help build a new library are appreciated. Call (562) 989-7324 for more information.
