On Tuesday, December 21, at approximately 3:30pm, officers from the Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) responded to a call of a burglary in progress in the 400 block of Coronado Avenue. A short time later, three burglars who had stolen Christmas gifts from a home were taken into custody.
Officers responding to the call contained the scene and requested the assistance of the Air Support Unit, K-9 and other resources to assist with setting up a perimeter and conducting a search of the area. Within minutes of receiving the call, two suspects were apprehended. They were leaving the scene with bags of items that they had stolen from the residence, including wrapped Christmas gifts. The third suspect was located a short time later a few blocks away, and he too was arrested.  The stolen property was returned to the homeowner.
The suspects are a 13-year-old, a 14-year-old, and an 18 year-old, all male residents of Long Beach. The 18-year-old has been identified as Ronney Stevens Jr., and he was arrested for residential burglary and an outstanding warrant. The other suspects, whose names are being withheld because they are minors, were also arrested for residential burglary.
The LBPD would like to use this example to remind the public of the importance of immediately calling in anything suspicious in your area, including individuals who are loitering, trespassing, or engaging in otherwise suspicious activity. Calls should be directed to LBPD dispatchers at 9-1-1 or via the non-emergency number, (562) 435-6711.
Additionally, doors and windows to residences should always be properly secured. Additional holiday safety tips are posted on the LBPD website,, in the newsroom section.
Anyone with information regarding this crime should call LBPD Detective Jennifer Valenzuela at (562) 570-7351.  To send an anonymous text or email, go to
